Introduction of rare and unique adenosma buchneroides:
The main components of adenosma buchneroides are γ-terpinene, carvacrol, thymol, α-terpinene, carvacrol methyl ether, and limonene. Terpinene is a monoterpene compound that exhibits strong fumigation, repellent, and contact-killing activities against various insects, as well as possessing antibacterial properties. The other compounds also have excellent effects in preventing and killing insects and fungi. As a precious tropical plant with significant cultural and medicinal value, denosma buchneroides is renowned for its unique fragrance and excellent mosquito-repellent, anti-inflammatory, and anti-itch effects, making it the best natural, non-toxic mosquito repellent ingredient. It can even be used as a perfume essential oil.
Adenosma buchneroides, scientifically known as Melanthera chamaepeuce, is an annual herbaceous plant of the Plantaginaceae family and the Melanthera genus. In China, it is found only in Mengla County, located in the Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture of Yunnan Province. It is an integral part of the cultural heritage of the Aini people in the Xishuangbanna region. Known for its ability to repel fleas and mosquitoes, it is commonly referred to as "fleabane." The local Aini people call it "Laosuo Du," meaning "fragrant grass." Local Aini villagers often use fresh or dried fleabane to line their beds, repelling fleas, mosquitoes, and ants, or place it in pillows to treat headaches, colds, and other ailments.

The research team from the Kunming Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden, after 15 years of research on various planting elements such as temperature, light, water, and soil conditions for adenosma buchneroides , successfully cultivated it in forests, barren slopes, and fields. The cultivation area gradually expanded from a few acres to several dozen acres, and now covers thousands of acres. In 2021, the team led by Professor Pei Shengji, a renowned ethnobotanist in China, transformed the research achievements of the unique and endangered ethnic medicinal plant adenosma buchneroides , which had been excavated, protected, and researched for many years in Xishuangbanna, into mosquito repellent products. Due to its natural, non-toxic composition without chemical repellents, it quickly gained traction in the market.
